Common questions

Fixing holes in plaster walls
Small nail and screw holes are usually filled, sanded back flush and spot-primed before painting. Larger holes need a gyprock patch keyed into the surrounding plaster so the repair does not show through the topcoat — worth having a painter assess it rather than filling it yourself if it is more than a few centimetres across.

Peeling & flaking paint — what causes it
Peeling and flaking paint is usually moisture, poor surface preparation on the original coat, or paint reaching the end of its life. The fix is to remove the loose material back to a sound edge, prepare properly and repaint — painting straight over flaking paint only delays the problem.
